Why I Create Gaming Content

Now that I’m back in full-force across Twitch, YouTube, Instagram and TikTok, I’ve been looking back on why I started creating gaming content in the first place.

I still consider myself new to the gaming scene - I only started gaming around four years ago, and there were so many games and genres I haven’t explored. I knew that when I started, my goal was to encourage other new gamers like myself to try new things, get out of their comfort zone and most importantly - have fun!

This is still such an important part of why I create now, and I thought I’d share with you how I got started.

Behold - my very first video; ‘Why Apex Legends is SO FUN!’ I recorded this in my old bedroom not long after Apex Legends released. It was the first battle royale I really got into, and I thought ‘hey, maybe if someone new to this genre wants to try it, maybe this could help them!’ I can’t help but cringe a little looking back because the way I film and edit has changed, but I am proud of myself for putting myself out there - it was a really big step for me!

I knew that I wanted show people that it was never too late to try something new, and by no means did you have to be good at something to enjoy it!… and that is how my Twitch channel was born.

My Twitch channel has evolved so much over the last couple of years in many ways. While I did love playing my favourites at the time like Overwatch, Call of Duty and Spider-Man, my community grew especially when I played Fallout New Vegas for the first time.

It was an amazing getting to share my first experiences with the game live with an audience who were keen to see how I played the game, and it encouraged me to pick up some other titles I was new to. Without playing games like Last of Us, Resident Evil and The Witcher 3, I wouldn’t have met the amazing people who are part of the community today!

Something I have learnt about creating content online, is that its important to remind yourself why you’re doing it. It can be so easy to get swept up in the excitement of seeing your stats grow, and start comparing your journey to the people around you. As cliche as it sounds - everyone’s journey is different. Your path is unique to yourself, and what makes you, YOU!

If you keep true to yourself and allow yourself to grow and learn, you’ll so proud of what you can achieve.
