Disney Dreamlight Valley - Dreamlight Tips for Beginners
If you have been following my social media, you will know that my obsession with Disney Dreamlight Valley has completely taken over! There is so much to do in Dreamlight Valley, especially if you want to complete as many Dreamlight Duties as possible, as well as progress the current Pixar Fest Star Path.
So if you’re just starting the game, I have compiled a (spoiler-free!) list of basic tips to help you start your journey!
What is Dreamlight and the Pixar Fest Star Path?
In the game, Dreamlight is the currency that you earn that you can use to clear areas in the world of Dreamlight Valley that are blocked. The main way to earn Dreamlight is by completing a series of tasks, otherwise known as ‘Dreamlight Duties’.
The Pixar Fest Star Path is essentially the game’s ‘battle pass system’. The Pixar Fest Star Path can be obtained through Moonstones - the game’s premium currency that is purchased with real-world money. This element in the game is completely optional as it only offers cosmetics. Through Xbox Game Pass, I was given enough Moonstone to partake in the Pixar Fest Star Path so I’ll explain more about it below and what it offers.
Four Easy Dreamlight Duties to do Every Day!
Clear Out Night Thorns
Night Thorns will respawn at the start of a new day in the valley, so make sure you clear them out! Clearing the Night Thorns can give you items such as Star Coins, seeds, Dream Shards and more. Removing a great number of Night Thorns are also part of your Foraging Duties.
Have a discussion with every Villager
While you’re playing the game, make sure you have a discussion with every Villager you meet. As well as having this task be a Dreamlight Duty to complete, this is a great, quick way to progress your Friendship Level with these characters (which I will go into another time)!
Change your outfit
Dress to impress and mix up your outfit once a day to complete this easy Dreamlight Duty! You’ll find yourself accumulating so much clothing and accessories as you play, so this is a great way to see what you have obtained and change up your look!
Take pics
Take a selfie with your new friends at least once a day for an easy 50 Dreamlight! Taking photos is also a Friendship task, so keep snapping pics throughout your gameplay.
These are just some of many easy things to remember to do when you log in to the game everyday!

Pixar Fest Star Path
The Pixar Fest Star Path has more specific tasks that generally require a bit more work. Instead of receiving Dreamlight when completing them, you obtain currency unique to the Pixar Fest Star Path that you can use to purchase rewards such as outfits, furniture and motifs (for customising your outfits). The Pixar Fest Star Path is only available for a limited time, so time is of the essence if you wish to complete it entirely!.
My best advice when completing this is to prioritise unlocking the Moonstone first (as this is what this reward system uses as currency). Obtain the Moonstone of each level first with the smallest two rewards in that same level (they’re usually motifs) to progress to the next level, and repeat until you finish the process in level 5, then go back and get everything else!
There is so much more I can chat about, but I wanted to share some tips on the best way to get started in collecting as much Dreamlight as you can, as well as my best advice if you wish to complete the Pixar Fest Star Path!
If there’s anything specific you would like to me to write about for Disney Dreamlight Valley, let me know below!
I’m thinking about writing about the benefits of focusing on Friendship Levels with Villagers next.
Happy gaming!
